ITRI's Mechanical Division Pioneers Comprehensive Academic-Industry Collaboration: Paving the Way for Cross-Disciplinary Integration and Talent Cultivation

The "Grand Mechanical Research and Learning Platform" collaborates with domestic universities, converging ITRI’s mechanical R&D capabilities and linking them with industry energy to expand the academic-industry research communication platform.

Objective The initiative aims to deepen research in smart machinery and manufacturing, intelligent vehicles, semiconductor processing equipment, and other hardware and software integration technologies. It continues to transfer research achievements to the industry, driving innovative progress.

The R&D focus is summarized in two "I's": Intelligent Manufacturing and Intelligent Mobility, alongside four "S's": System Integration, Sustainable Environment, Smart Living, and Resilient Society, to enhance technological strength.

Positioning The focus lies in three core technologies: "miniaturization," "intelligence," and "green energy." R&D directions are set around four main areas: smart electromechanical systems, smart manufacturing and robotics, intelligent vehicles, and advanced semiconductor equipment manufacturing. These initiatives are supported by key process technologies and component development to ensure the long-term advancement of industrial technology.

Mission

  • Intelligent Manufacturing: Assisting companies in achieving digital transformation by creating intelligent products, processes, equipment, and energy management systems.
  • Intelligent Vehicles: Developing intelligent vehicles for land and air, such as drones and smart cars, while integrating AI and big data to create resilient hardware and software systems.
  • Smart Electromechanical System Integration: Ranging from motors to robotic arms, from monitoring systems to smart factories, we bring more precision and innovation to the mechanical industry.
  • Smart Living: Developing various types of assistive robots, domestic robots, and lifestyle application robots to continuously create value through technological advancements.
  • Sustainable Environment: Committed to green technology R&D and its application in energy-saving, environmental protection, and renewable energy systems.
  • Resilient Society: Focusing on autonomous R&D in "transportation infrastructure" and "disaster response and defense" to handle sudden risks and environmental pressures.
